Côte d'Ivoire

Partners and Target Groups

The ABS Initiative is working closely with its main partner, the Ivorian national focal point for ABS at the Ministère de l'Environnement et du Développement Durable et la Transition Ecologique (Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development and Environmental Transition). The larger network includes various research institutes, such as the Université Nangui Abrogoua (UNA), the Félix Houphouët-Boigny-University and the Institut Pasteur of Côte d’Ivoire  in Abidjan as well as private sector associations, such as the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Côte d’Ivoire, the Fédération Ivorienne des Petites et Moyennes Entreprises (FIPME) and several individual SMEs. Further partners that have been involved include the Chambre de Rois et de Chefs Traditionels de Côte d'Ivoire, local authorities and intermediaries who assist in addressing Indigenous Peoples and local communities.

The target groups include all major ABS-relevant stakeholders such as local communities, researchers, private sector representatives and staff of the government authorities with links to ABS, who will be capacitated to introduce their respective needs and viewpoints in the valorisation of genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge of the country.
